Women’s Health at Cornerstone: Mother’s Day Week
Sunday starts our clubs wide promotion to bring a female buddy to work out for only $1 donation to the Susan G. Komen 3 day for the Cure walk in October. What a great way to tell mom, or any other important lady in your life, that you care about her then to bring
her into Cornerstone for an amazing workout! We have a couple of incredible Cornerstone moms who are doing exactly that. Look for our awesome donation buckets at each check in desk to donate your $1 (or more if you would like). We even have highlighted classes at each club where all moms who attend will receive a carnation as a thank you for all they do. Look for the schedule of classes posted at your home club. Highlighted classes, and your opportunity to bring your female buddies in, goes until Saturday, May 14th. So you have all week to bring in as many female friends as you would like. Bring in a big group at once or a different friend every day – just make sure they bring their $1!!!!
If you’d like more information on the week’s events and classes, contact Kristin at Kristin@Cornerstoneclubs.com. And if you’d like more information about the Susan G. Komen 3 day for the Cure, you can visit www.the3day.org and search for Pitbulls in Pink or Kristin Baldino.
Thanks in advance for spreading the word and bringing in your female buddies to work out! And keep checking the blog – now that it’s nice out Megan and I will be sharing our training stories and pictures, and I want to share with you the amazing book that Susan’s sister wrote about her!!
That’s What Friends Are For
We all have friends – new friends, old friends, best friends, friends you don’t see as often as you’d like, and friends so close you consider family and you’d do anything if they asked. My mom has a friend like that, Chris, and they are both members of the Warrington club. You might see them early in the morning on the bikes, or doing some ab work in the group x studio. Well Thank God my mom has a friend like Chris. Chris was going for her check up mammogram after being declared cancer free, so the other women who work in the office, including my mom, went to get mammograms too to support Chris. Little did we know, they would find bilateral breast cancer in my mom. Thankfully, she is cancer free today and doing just fine – working out with her friend Chris 5x a week!
I was fortunate enough to find a good friend in Megan, who started as my PT client at the New Hope club (click here for testimonial). Megan and I started as trainer/trainee, but would soon become very good friends. I had thought about doing the Susan G. Komen 3 day walk for years, in honor of my mom, but could never find anyone else who wanted to do it with me. There’s so much that goes into it – the training, the fundraising, sleeping in a tent, and not to mention the 60 miles you walk. But one night in January my phone rang, and on the other end was Megan (who’s mother-in-law had just been diagnosed with breast cancer) and she said, “I want to do the 3 day walk, will you do it with me?” I don’t think even a second passed before I yelled, “YES!” through the phone at her.
So the journey begins for us, “Pitbulls in Pink”. We have already started fundraising, and although we haven’t started walking yet, we work out together several times a week. I look forward to tracking our progress on here – sharing stories, pictures, and updates for fundraisers we will hold between now and the walk in October.
Next time you see your friend, make sure you say “thank you”, for all the things they have done for you and inevitably, all the things they would do in a heartbeat!
